About the Materials
Stainless steel is a generic term for a family of low carbon alloy steels containing 10.5% or more chromium. The corrosion resistance and other useful properties of steel are enhanced by increased chromium content and the addition of other elements such as molybdenum, nickel and nitrogen. The German composition of 18/8 austenitic stainless steel (18% Chromium, 8% Nickel) is used in a significantly thicker gauge than typical applications of its kind. In addition, stainless steel has a self-healing property because of this composition. The chrome finish will stay bright and shiny through years of use.
